Former Snooker World Champion Graeme Dott Convicted of Child Sex Abuse

Former world snooker champion Graeme Dott has been convicted of sexually abusing two children in Scotland, following a trial at the High Court in Glasgow.

The 49-year-old was found guilty of historical sexual abuse involving a girl between 1993 and 1996 and a boy between 2006 and 2010. Dott had denied the allegations during the trial.

Court Finds Dott Guilty After Five-Day Trial

The jury convicted Dott of two charges involving lewd, indecent and libidinous behaviour toward the two children, who were of primary school age at the time of the abuse.

The girl is now in her 40s, while the male victim is now in his late 20s. The case involved incidents that took place over separate periods spanning nearly two decades.

Dott Remanded in Custody Ahead of Sentencing

Following the conviction, Dott was ordered to remain in custody. His sentencing is scheduled for September 29, 2026.

The World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association has also revoked Dott’s membership and requested his removal from the World Snooker Tour Hall of Fame, according to the Associated Press.

Former World Champion’s Career

Dott was one of Scotland’s most successful professional snooker players. He won the World Snooker Championship in 2006 and was runner-up in 2004 and 2010.

His conviction brings a dramatic fall for a player who spent decades competing at the highest level of the sport.
