Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury Reportedly Sign Contracts for November 20 Fight in New York
The long-awaited heavyweight showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury appears to be moving closer to reality, with reports saying both British boxing stars have signed contracts to fight on November 20, 2026 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
The potential blockbuster fight would finally bring together two of the biggest names in heavyweight boxing after years of failed negotiations and near-misses. However, while BoxingScene reports that contracts have been signed for the New York date, the fight’s venue and final arrangements have remained the subject of recent public disagreement.
A Fight More Than a Decade in the Making
Joshua and Fury have been linked to a potential fight for years, but negotiations have repeatedly fallen apart.
Both fighters were previously world champions, and at different points a clash between them was considered one of the biggest possible fights in boxing. Mandatory title obligations, rematch clauses and promotional disagreements prevented the matchup from happening earlier.
Now, reports indicate that the two rivals have agreed to finally meet in what could be one of the most commercially significant heavyweight fights of 2026.
Madison Square Garden Emerges as the Likely Venue
The fight is reportedly planned for Madison Square Garden, although the New York venue has created tension within the negotiations.
Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn has publicly insisted that the original agreement called for the fight to take place in the United Kingdom. He has suggested that moving the bout to the United States would require changes to the existing arrangement.
Recent reports have nevertheless pointed toward New York as the preferred location, with Netflix also widely reported to be involved as the broadcaster. An official announcement is still expected to clarify the final date, venue and commercial arrangements.
Dana White Frustrated by the Delays
Dana White has also expressed frustration with the prolonged negotiations, saying the fight should have happened years ago.
The boxing event has been surrounded by disagreements over promotion and venue arrangements, adding another complication to a matchup that fans have waited years to see.
If the November 20 fight is officially confirmed, Joshua vs. Fury would finally settle one of British boxing’s longest-running rivalries and give fans the heavyweight mega-fight they have been demanding for more than a decade.
